Basketry NSW Inc.
Primrose Park Art and Craft Centre is a meeting place for Basketry NSW Incorporated, a group for basket enthusiasts, both makers and collectors, based in New South Wales, Australia.
We aim to promote appreciation of baskets, keep traditional basketry skills alive, and explore new forms of artistic expression using basket making techniques. Our members are interested in natural fibres and a wide variety of other materials, and make work ranging from functional vessels to sculptural forms.
Basketry Days at Primrose Park
Our basketry days enable basket makers to develop and practice their basketry skills in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. At our basketry days people usually work on their own projects. Beginners are welcome, but we do not provide teaching unless we are holding an advertised workshop, so beginners should have completed at least one basketry workshop (or equivalent) prior to visiting us, and bring their own project to work on. Details of upcoming workshops can be found on our Facebook page.
Basket making days are usually on the second Friday of each month from 11 am. These days are open to members of Basketry NSW, and also to non-members who can make a Casual Visit for a fee of $10. BYO basketry project to work on, lunch and snacks. We also sometimes hold workshops on the first Sunday of the month. If you would like to attend a basketry day please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP and confirm details at least one week before your intended visit.
